Cinis, East Midlands

I have talked before about the fact that during the week I live in middle earth( Leicestershire) during the week. Forays out for meals have been somewhat disapointing for a London Foodie, no dis respect. The competition an clientele in the big city has driven standards to unbelievable highs... And some lows. Last night a friend was in town and I had to suggest a place for dinner... Eeek. Inspiration dawned on a local Italian called Cinis, no apostrophe , it is really Italian in that they must ship in wave after wave of Italian family and friends of friends to work there and they really sound Italian... No corny accents here. Anyway with expectations low we ordered and have to say it was pretty good.
A pizza marinara starter, hot thin dough with spicy tomato sauce and anchovy ... Need I say more.
I had a green vegetable risotto which was delicious except I like my risotto a bit wetter , good flavour though. Friend had venison ravioli which was good I think, I didn't try which is unusual for me. So if you happen to be in South Leicester area of a Tuesday Pm you could do worse than Cinis, actually you could do a lot worse, they even have rabbit on the menu. 6/10 which is pretty good out of London
